And so the adventure begins…
Hi! My name is Hannah Hultz and I am the owner of Harvest Blooms. I never dreamed I would be on this journey, but here we are, welcome!
I am married to Chris, and together we have 5 kiddos. They are a lot of fun but man they keep us on our toes! Every once in a while you will see them sprinkled in on the fun. They have turned out to be my biggest supporters.
For many years I would find beautiful flower arrangements and I would send them to one of my favorite humans, and if you know her, you too probably love her….Pam Hoenes! She would tell me what was real, fake, or if it was even possible to make the arrangements. The one thing that was consistent in her responses was that I had expensive taste when it came to the garden roses I loved! I am looking at you Juliet & Evelyn!!
Fast forward to January of 2023. Chris & I decided to order some rose bushes. He thought it would be cheaper than buying me flowers (jokes on him now) :) In March our first 3 rose bushes arrived. I watched all the planting videos, bought everything they recommended, planted those little babes just the way they said. Everyday I would watch those roses for any sign of growth. It was so exciting watching something I planted grow! Over the next couple of months the passion for flowers grew. I told Chris I would like to start a cut flower stand. I was waiting for him to tell me I was nuts & remind me of all the plants I have killed over the years.
Over the years I have followed some really beautiful flower accounts. Even if you aren’t a flower farmer I bet they would still inspire you. I know they are florists, but seeing some of the things they can do with flowers amazes me. They are artists in the flower world. The research portion of this journey began. During that time of research I discovered Erin at Floret. They had just released Growing Floret. Something from that show resonated with me. I knew the journey I was embarking on would push me far outside of my comfort zone, force me to look inside myself and find the courage needed to pursue this dream. This journey isn’t for the faint of heart. It requires you to be okay with failing & succeeding all at the same time. Incase you are wondering, yep, I still kill plants!
We don’t have a large farm, but any available grass area we did have has slowly been turned into a planting area. Slowly we have even taken over a few spots at my parents house. I have tried some creative planting techniques other growers have recommended. It’s neat to see some of the creative techniques others have tried and succeeded at. There is something soothing about having your hands in the dirt and working towards something beautiful.
I am so glad you are here, we hope you enjoy the journey! I can promise each season will be full of laughter, loud music while I plant, a few tears & some dead plants, but we will go through it all together. So, buckle up! Stay tuned for flower content mixed with our family sprinkled in. Our hope is we can bring you some fresh locally grown blooms that brighten up your favorite people & places.
